Negril is a privately held, family run, full service restaurant and caterer inspired and founded by Marva Layne. The Negril mission is to service our guests with the best quality Caribbean Cuisine using the best possible ingredients, products, inputs of service, unmatched hospitality, atmosphere, and culinary excellence. Additionally, we strive to be an accurate representation of Caribbean food and culture.

Negril Story

For the past 15 years, husband and wife team Marva Layne and Carlton Hayle, along with Peter Best and Sim Walker have brought the flavors of the Caribbean to the island of Manhattan. The group pride themselves in producing the best quality Caribbean cuisine. With two locations, Negril Chelsea at 362 W 23rd Street and Negril Village at 70 W. 3rd Street, it is easy for patrons to feel as if they have been transported to the tropics with style. Rich in all the flavors of the Caribbean, everything is carefully prepared, well seasoned, and bursting with flavor. So good in fact, Zagat’s Restaurant Survey voted Negril’s Jerk Chicken the best in New York. The celebrity clientele is vast and ever growing. When you can’t make it to the Caribbean it’s no wonder why these restaurants are the next best things…If not better!

Negril Village

Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed “New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine”. The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico (i.e. Island Paella), and of course Jamaica (i.e. Jerk Chicken and Ackee). Set on two levels, the restaurants décor can be described as contemporary yet natural. The spacious dining room, on the upper level, boasts bamboo floors and seashell lined walls; while the Rhum lounge, on the lower level, warms you with its raisin interior, red lacquer floors, and in-house DJ. Live Reggae, Calypso, and Latin bands will further enchant you as you sip one of Negril Village’s many tropical drinks.

Negril Chelsea

The older sibling, Negril Chelsea, located in the heart of Chelsea specializes in Authentic Caribbean cuisine. Negril Chelsea’s menu can be described as “home-style” focusing on the Island of Jamaica. With its long swooping bar, splashes of color, aquarium, and Reggae backdrop, Negril will make one feel like an instant local in its lively environment. In addition to the varieties of fish, numerous jerk entrees, and the roti assortments, Negril’s bars boast an added bonus – New York’s largest selection of rums from the Caribbean’s favorite destinations.

Negril Catering

As full service caterers, Negril Catering specializes in Caribbean themed events, on or off site. Your guests can enjoy the flavors of the Islands of the Caribbean on the Island of Manhattan.
